Our Mission
The mission of the Gender Equity Center is to provide support for students of all genders at San José State University, and foster change on campus surrounding gender equality and equity. Through dynamic programming and educational outreach the Gender Equity Center seeks to improve the campus climate for students of marginalized genders and feminist-identified students and advocate for the respect and safety of all members of the campus community. In collaboration with other campus programs the Gender Equity Center works to meet the needs of students to promote the successful completion of their educational goals.

We sponsor educational and community building programs. Our library has an extensive collection of books concerning race, class, gender, sexuality, ability and other identity topics as well as a collection of films created by women. Space can be used for club meetings, studying, and hanging out. The center networks with campus and San José area organizations in order to build a stronger community and support system for the students of San José State University.
